New Release Spooky Hijinks ~ Agnes Gets Married

It’s December in the neighboring cities of Tawas City and East Tawas, and they have one thing in common—Christmas is drawing nearer. The only problem is that homes are being broken into in alarming numbers, with guns stolen. Even local militia members Curt and Curtis Hill are victims. That is, until Agnes Barton and Eleanor Mason are on the case, launching an investigation even after the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) comes to town, taking an interest in the recent thefts. Agnes’s own son, Stuart, who works for the FBI, tells her to back off, but Agnes isn’t about to stand down. It’s not something she does, even after a threat of arrest.

Life for Agnes and Eleanor is good, they’re planning their weddings to their respective fiancés, Andrew and Mr. Wilson, who still refuses to tell anyone his first name. With their hearts set on having their wedding at the lighthouse at the point, Agnes yet again is up to her elbows with ghost sightings, but that’s something that she’s grown accustomed to since her paranormal gift appeared.

As Agnes tries to figure out who the female ghost at the lighthouse is, she finally acquaints herself with the ghosts that live in the attic of the Butler Mansion. The deeper she gets, the more she learns about not only who they are, but the dark history of the Tawas area.
It gets down to the wire. Will Agnes be able to figure out who is stealing guns in the area, stop the ghosts from causing havoc at the mansion, and actually make their wedding plans before they land in jail or worse?

New Release: Ghostly Hijinks

Ghostly Hijinks is now available. In Ghostly Hijinks Agnes and Eleanor head out west to a real ghost town of Silver, Nevada, where they again find themselves in the midst of a mystery. The only difference this time is that it was part of dream Agnes had, one that’s proven to have actual links to Silver. When she finds out a real family has disappeared, Agnes makes it her business to solve the case, despite the interference of several spirits that reside at the legendary Goldberg Hotel. They also work to uncover the truth behind the legend of Leister’s Gold that Agnes is sure the family are looking for if only she can find them before it’s too late.

Driving up Highway 50 through Nevada, said to be the loneliest road in America, sure would make a body nervous. Unless, of course, you’re Agnes Barton, who welcomes the challenge and the chance to check out a real ghost town. But before she even arrives in Silver, Nevada, a mystery has unfolded in the form of a lost little girl, Rebecca, who has become separated from her family who are searching for the elusive Leister’s gold. The real kicker is that Agnes saw it all in a dream, but when they arrive at the Goldberg Hotel & Saloon, she realizes so many things about her dream are real, like the details of the inside of the hotel. It isn’t long before she learns that the hotel is haunted by various spirits from the past, further making for an interesting vacation.

Agnes is determined to find the missing family, insisting that it simply wasn’t just a dream as she learns that a family with a young daughter had indeed disappeared in the middle of the night just before they had arrived. Will Agnes and Eleanor find the missing family before they perish from the elements, or will the knife-wielding spirit called “The Cutter,” shorten their chances?

Note from the author: You can expect the third book in the series in December.

Agnes Barton Paranormal Mystery (Book One)

I'm excited to announce the launch of the first book in the Agnes Barton Paranormal mystery series...Haunted Hijinks!

Haunted Hijinks, Agnes Barton Paranormal Mystery. Available on Amazon, Barnes and Nobleibooks, and Kobo.

Ever since Agnes' car accident, things have changed drastically for her. When she wakes up in the hospital, not only is her son Stuart there, who she hasn't seen in years, but a ghostly apparition!

Instead of getting ready for the loony bin, Agnes and Eleanor help ready the Butler Mansion for a grand opening as a bed and breakfast on Halloween, except they find the body of Katherine Clark. It's game on, as usual, for Agnes, except she now has a new partner, one who has remained silent and is—well—a ghost.

Agnes now struggles to keep her wits, keeping her ghostly companion a secret from Eleanor, not such an easy feat since Eleanor is sharp as a tack. Not only that, but where has Stuart been all of these years and what is he up to?

Agnes Barton rises

Eleanor and I have been holed in a cabin in East Tawas. Our last adventure was finding Bigfoot, and ever since, we've been hounded by the press wanting the skinny on the "real" story. I told them of course that they'll just have to buy the book Bigfoot in Tawas as it has the full account.

Anyway, we've been kept quite contained of late and without one crime to investigate. Sigh, okay so it hasn't been a full month that our latest adventure was out there for the public to digest, but both El and I are itching for another adventure. That is if Madison ever gets around to giving us something juicy to do. One thing I do know is that Agnes Barton will rise again and when she does, you'll be taken my complete surprise.

Long live our senior sleuth adventures!

Bigfoot in Tawas
Agnes and Eleanor embark on their most challenging case to date, finding Bigfoot!
Agnes isn’t sure what to say when Billy Matlin, hires her to find Bigfoot, and it doesn’t help that Eleanor is hiding in the car. Who is she to say that Bigfoot isn’t real, and lord knows she sure could use a paying gig. Armed with a baggie full of brown hair, Agnes and Eleanor march into the sheriff’s department, but Sheriff Peterson is reluctant to test the hair. Outright refusing to use county resources for a DNA analysis.

Before long, the Department of Natural Resources and the United States Fish and Game Service also both refuse to test the hair. Suggesting that the only way they would investigate is if an endangered species is involved. Never one to be told no, Agnes does the only thing she thinks will get them to change their minds by planting evidence in the form of a road killed Bald Eagle on Billy’s property.

East Tawas is not only overrun with Bigfoot sightings, but it would seem just about everyone they question claims to have seen something mysterious in the woods. When big game hunters roll into town, and with the DNR and U.S. Fish and Game fighting over the brown hair, not to mention a reality show offering up a ten million dollar prize to whoever finds Bigfoot, it’s up to Agnes and Eleanor to find out the truth, which is further complicated when Billy Matlin mysteriously disappears.

New Release Target of Death

I have another new release to announce and this time around it's the first in a brand new series. Target of Death, A Cajun Cooking Mystery. Once again it's cozy mystery and it featured one of my actual readers as a main character. That was a hoot on many levels. This is also my strongest female leads yet. She's a kick butt type of a girl, but with someone who competes in archery tournaments you should expect no less. Introductory price $.99 thru March 3, 2014 as a way to thank my readers.

When Tammy Rodrigue, known as Louisiana Sassy on the archery circuit, rolled into Bear Paw, Michigan, for the archery competition, Tournament of Trouble, she never expected to be considered a suspect in a murder investigation. Sure, the victim was killed via an arrow through his heart with the same white and pink fletches (feathers) like Tammy uses, but she had just come to town. Not only that, but she was just pulled out of a ditch by a mysterious man wearing a ski mask. Most women might be frightened, but not Tammy. She’s tough as nails and not about to be intimidated by anyone, not even the local archery hot shot, Daniel Adams, who turned out to be the man under the mask.

Tammy and her tag-along friend, Dixie, slid their way into town amidst a snowstorm and took shelter at the local restaurant, Hidden Pass, run by a kind senior citizen, Margarita Hickey, who offers them a place to stay. As it were, Margarita was down on her luck and her business had gone on hard times. She’s impressed when Tammy spices up the chili she ordered with her own brand of spices that she always carries with her. It’s then that a plan is hatched, and Tammy and Dixie devise a way to help Margarita by creating Cajun recipes that Margarita could serve during the winter festival.

As Tammy and Dixie begin to poke into Sheriff Simon Price’s murder investigation, they discover there are more secrets in this town than what’s hiding out in the Bayou back home. Margarita, not one to be left out in the cold, tags along, too. The victim, Clayton Percy, has cheated on his wife and has been flashing cash all over town, but nobody seems to know why. Or are they keeping it a secret? Will Tammy and Dixie be able to solve this mystery in time before the Tournament of Trouble, or will Tammy finally miss her mark?
